# How Matrix Works

Using Matrix follows the same general flow across Perps and Predictions: explore a market, choose a venue and account, fund the relevant balance, submit an order, and track the result.

### Explore Markets and Choose a Venue

You can browse markets through the Perps and Predictions sections before signing in. Matrix displays the markets and market information available from the selected venue.

Changing venues changes the available markets and determines which trading account and balance Matrix uses. The main navigation and trading experience remain familiar across supported venues.

### Set Up and Fund Your Account

You need a Matrix account to trade. When you sign up, Matrix creates a Matrix Wallet if you do not already have one. It then prepares the venue-specific accounts needed for supported Perps and Predictions venues. You can also link supported existing Perps accounts.

Your Matrix Wallet, trading accounts, and venue balances serve different purposes. Before trading, make sure funds are available in the balance associated with the product, venue, and account you selected.

Because funds and trading activity remain venue-specific, switching accounts or venues can change the balances, positions, and orders shown in the app.

### Review and Submit a Trade

After choosing a market, configure your order and review its details. When you confirm, Matrix submits the order through the selected account to the selected venue.

The venue processes the order according to its market rules and available liquidity. Matrix then shows its current status and any resulting fills.

### Follow and Manage Your Activity

Matrix uses updates from the venue to keep your balances, orders, fills, positions, and history current. You can monitor and manage supported orders and positions through Matrix, while each record remains associated with the account and venue where the activity occurred.

Perp Bots follow the same account and venue model. Each bot runs a grid strategy through the Perps account and venue you select. For bots deployed through Matrix, you can monitor their activity, pause or resume them, and stop them when needed.
